Set aside time to get a workout in, preferably in the morning before work. Working out will boost your mental output by increasing mitochondrial cells that produce energy.
Make sure to take breaks. You may think powering through the day is more productive but it is actually detrimental to your energy. Step away from your desk every 90 minutes and take a few minutes to recharge your batteries.
When you are working on a major project and need a mental break, have a list of tasks that you can finish in less than ten minutes always on hand. These can help you re-focus and see that you can accomplish and finish a task.
Budget your time wisely. This will force you to be more effective if you only have a certain amount of time to work.
Having trouble focusing? Try to race the clock in small intervals. This will make the project a little more fun and will get your blood pumping with competition.
Being organized allows you to start your day on a positive note. You will spend less time searching for files and more time working. If you don’t use it everyday, put it away.
Try starting your day with a crossword. This will get your cognitive skills pumping without you even knowing.
Show workers that you appreciate the hard work they do. Find simple ways to acknowledge that a goal has been met to keep your team motivated and feeling valued.
